  • How to capture a 720×480 still not a 655

Posted by Larry Watts on June 8, 2007 at 9:01 pm

I’ve always worked around this, but need to capture a DV clip still in a true 720 x 480 pixel image. I always get a 655 x 480

    How do I?

    Thanks

Still capture resolution is determined by the preview resolution. Set to Best/Full and you will get full res. Temporarily chging the project to progressive (nt interlaced) will improved the capture as well.

655 x 480 is the max still res that you can get out of Vegas on a standard definition project 🙁
I’ve forgotten the rationale but it has something to do with the aspect ratio issue.
A possible workaround would be to bring the video into another app (MediaPlayer Classic??)and try it there.

While you typically don’t want to do this, there IS a way to get the full number of pixels. Beside the “Save Snapshot” button is another button that will “Copy to Clipboard”. Copy to the clipboard, open your paint program, and paste the image to a new document. That will give you the full 720×480 in your paint program. However, that doesn’t take into account the difference between square and non-square pixels.
