  • How to avoid Auto Sync truncating video and/or audio clips?

    Dear Forum,

I’m stealing this question from the Avid community as it’s already very well put, exactely what I need to knnow but and unfortunately unanswered there. Really hoping you can help me out with this:

“Is there a way to avoid truncating the start or ending of a clip in which the video is longer than the audio, or vice versa? I would like to keep the original lengths of all the video and audio files when autosyncing. I don’t mind gaps in the timeline.”

I’m syncing via Aux Timecode. When autosyncing now by chosing the related (externally recorded) audio and video file and then hitting “autosync”, the snynced clip will be shortened to the video length. Audio from the same take but without video gets lost. How to avoid that..???

Thanks a lot in advance for your replies.

AutoSync always truncates to shortest contributing clip. You can try working with a grouped clip instead but will have to potentially deal with things like match frame, no out of sync indicators, etc. and remembering to “commit” Multicam edits when sending AAF’s etc.
