How to archive footage ingested natively?
Hello all,
I manage a small team of editors and we are currently making the move to Adobe Premiere Pro (on Mac). Things are going fairly smoothly, but one thing I’m trying to figure out is how to archive the footage we ingest natively through Prelude.
If we ingest natively from, say, a Panasonic AG-AF100, we can of course edit the .mts and things are fine and dandy. However, once the project is finished, I’m uncertain how to add the footage to our library for use in future videos. In the past we simply moved the ProRes or DVCPRO files into an appropriate folder on our Xsan, but ingesting natively results in multiple folders—which, as we all, have to be maintained in order for the footage to be readable.
Any suggestions? Does the footage have to be stored by ingest date (containing all the subfolders), or is there a way to combine all those folders? We could convert it all to ProRes, but then we lose native format and all of the audio (we usually record mono tracks with two lapels) is combined into a stereo track.
Thanks for your time and thoughts!
