  How to animate an engine?

  I would like to model a V8 engine and model most of the internal part, such as the crank, pistons, rods, and timing gear/chain. I want to animate the engine running and create a cut away so the viewers can see the inside moving.

  Has anyone ever attempted this? Im assuming xpresso would be the way to go, but I dont have any experience using it. If anyone could point me in the direction to some tutorials explaining how to set up an engine, or if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.
