Activity Forums VEGAS Pro how to add “vibration” effect to video

  • how to add “vibration” effect to video

I’ve got some music that has some heavy bass beats. On a couple of the beats I’d like the video to appear to vibrate or shake a little for a second or fraction of a second when the bass blasts away, then damper and stop vibrating. I’d like it to look as if the room was shaking when the beat blasted away. Is there some way to do this with video effects or pan/crop/zoom?

Vegas Quake, a part of this script collection, should do what you want. Best of all, they’re free.

I don’t have the script Menu folder they keep referring to. I just have C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 and then the only folder under that that might be relevant is Video Plug-ins… can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

so it appears that even though I have the “platinum” version of Vegas maybe it is not the “full” version, and possibly I need that to do scripting. Trouble is, even looking at the website I don’t really understand what is a “full” version and what is not. I assumed a “platinum” version would be a full version plus something but perhaps not. Can someone clarify this for me? If platinum is not full, what is the least expensive way to get to full?

Yep, you got it. You have Vegas Studio, which costs (eg) $99 or something. For any scripting, you need to the pro version, which costs a whole lot more (am in UK so not sure of US price but eg $600).

can upgrade before end of Oct, which will get you pro version at major discount. link can be provided if necessary, but only have the pro version upgrade link to hand, rather than studio upgrade:
https://www.sonymediasoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=416&keycode=63009 – a good enough place to start.

OR can look on B&H photovideo site for $99 version (complete) of Vegas 6, if they have any left. Is not current version (7) but will do perfectly well until you need to spend more $$$.

The “Vegas Movie Studio” do not support scripting. You have to upgrade to the full version to get that. However, you might look at the NewBlueFX.com effects for their Earthquake and Camera Shake tools.

Will these scipts work with 7.0?

Generally speaking… any script that works in Vegas 6 will work in Vegas 7.

There are some exceptions (i.e. the major purchased scripts had to be modified).

Just wanted to thank you and everyone else for the VERY helpful guidance here. I tried the trial of Vegas 6 and the scripts you suggested and it was definitely helpful. I’ve also gone ahead and ordered the full version since it allows more than 4 video tracks at a time, and likely many more features that I will find helpful, including these scripts!

Thanks to all of you for an excellent forum. Hopefully I’ll advance more quickly now that I know about this forum (and given more time to play and work with Vegas 6)!
