How should I rip DVD’s for editing in FCP
I have a bunch of DVD’s put together by a media service. They are all the media stories that have been done on our organization in the past year. I need to edit this into an end of year DVD for the board.
I can guess at the workflow, but what is the best way to rip them from the DVD for use in FCP? It’s an older G4, with no special hardware.
I could run the dvd’s through our HDV deck and capture the signal in HDV, through firewire to the Mac. Or I could just rip the dvd’s and convert the file to some format for editing. It’s news and highly compressed in the standard 4:3. Should I go the HDV route, or DV, or is there another format I should use. Any advice would be appreciated.
