How robust is using target disk mode to access drives on another Mac?
Let’s say you’ve just bought a new Mac Pro, and have a working G5 with a fibre array attached, as well as PCI x capture card. Could you reliably use the G5 to capture with, then restart it in target disk mode connected to the Mac Pro, and use the array attached to the G5 to playback media, using the Mac Pro for the edit? I’ve not tried this, but if it worked, you’d save the money rebuying cards for the Mac Pro… right? Course this means having to have both macs running, but could save a substantial amount of money…
Anybody tried this?
