How revert to earlier version FCP? help!!
Dear users,
I have a pretty silly question here.
I used to work with FCP 4.5, but installed FCP 5 this day. I have a power mac G4 however, and my new program doesn’t work. (I wasn’t surprised, but just gave it a try)
As I need FCP for my job, I wanted to revert to version 4.5, but the system wouldn’t let me have it installed because “there’s a newer version of FCP already installed”. I deleted all FCP-related files from my disc, but it still doesn’t work!
Does anybody know what I’ll have to do, or what I can possibly throw away furthermore? I’m starting to get a bit desparate here. : ( I don’t want to reinstall OS X again…

How to uninstall FCP 5
Here’s the way to do it:
1) Close FCP
2) Go to: /users/username/library/preferences/
a. Delete the com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
b. Delete the FCP User data folder.
3) Go to: Applications
a. Delete FCP application
b. Delete FCP HD addition easy setups folder.
4) Go to: /library/applicaton support/fcp system support/
a. Delete Custom Settings folder
b. Delete Plugins folder
5) Go to: /library/receipts/ and delete the following:
a. AnalogPAL.pkg
b. AppleIntermediateCodec.pkg
c. DigitalPAL.pkg
d. DVCproHDCodec.pkg
e. FinalCutPro.pkg
f. FinalCutproHDUpdate4.5.pkg
g. FinalCutProHelp.pkg
h. HDVCodec.pkg
i. IMXCodec.pkg
j. Uncompressed422.pkg
k. VideoOutSupport.pkgShane

FYI,
Shane was spot on for the info.
The receipts folder is where the installer programs look to see what you have.
I’ve had a couple of occasions where I had a bad install, but it wouldn’t install again. So I needed to delete the receipts first.Good Info to know.

Why wouldn’t it run on a G4? FCP 5 runs just great on a G4.
