how premiere pro sees C300 Clips

February 26, 2015 at 2:09 pmPerhaps the wrong forum but I’ll ask> I use FCPX and if I have a 20 minute C 300 clip that I want to import it shows up in the import window as one 20 minute clip . There is no problem with this except that I am getting heat from a client that is using the same files with PPro and is constantly bitching about how that 20 minute clip shows up as 4 clips in PPro. FCPX clearly reads the meta data that says “these 4 files are one clip ” and it seems P rpo doesn’t ? What is up with that?

February 26, 2015 at 4:21 pmI’ve seen this a lot with PPro. It has something to do with the importer. C300 uses spanned clips, so there are 4 files in your 20 min. clip. FCP X interprets this correctly as one single file. PPro seems to bring in the 4 component files, but then each one duplicates the other pieces, resulting in 4 x 20 min. clips. This behavior might vary if the files are on a network or local.

February 26, 2015 at 5:52 pmNot recognizing spanned clips would seem a bit odd, since so many cameras other than the c300 have file size limits and span clips . What is the solution to this issue.

I haven’t found one. I either just live with the duplicates or generate a transcoded file with another application and use that instead to edit with.

February 28, 2015 at 2:01 amI recently did a Varicam35 project, and started it off in PPro before going back to FCPX. But I noticed that PPro saw those as separate clips as well.
