  • How not to record other audio tracks

Posted by Richard Klimesh on April 30, 2005 at 10:49 pm

I’m recording voiceover directly to the timeline but I can’t seem to do it without recording all the other audio tracks at the same time. Is there a way to listen to the other audio tracks without recording them to the new armed track? Surely I don’t have to MUTE all the other audio tracks…

Select the track, arm it (the little red targe near the name box on the track) and hit the record button.

Nancy, thanks for your reply. That’s exactly what I am doing. My problem is that audio on all the other audio tracks that aren’t muted get recorded on the new track along with the voiceover.

I want to listen to the other tracks through headphones while the voiceover is being recorded. I want to record only the voiceover on the new track.

Kim it’s probably a setting in your Windows Recording control – if you make sure only your mic-in channel is enabled, that’s all you should hear.

Sorry should have made it clearer – I meant that’s all your Voice Over track should record – you should be able to HEAR any existing tracks not muted, in your earphones.
