How much computer do I need for using Vegas?
I’m going to buy a new PC just for editing Vegas…
What processor, processor speed, ram, etc should I buy to have a really good Vegas editing setup?
I don’t need to buy the cheapest machine… I really want a good editing machine… so don’t focus on the very bottom of the range.
I probably wont buy the most extreme (expensive) either… but that may depend on how much it cost… because I do want a really good editing machine.
And, we will probably be editing multiple video files on the timeline… if that can be done… in other words we put up 4 to 6 video tracks… one on top of the other on the timeline… and switch back and forth as we edit… (I’m not sure this requires more processing power or not… maybe someone can tell me.)
Any comments, suggestions and spec’s would be helpful.

Vegas will run on just about any contemprary computer that is running XP or Windows 2000.
I would suggest setting up an AMD 64 dual core system. You can hit different price points depending on the processor speed. 1 Gig of ram would be sufficient. You can get by with 512MBs.
