Hi all , yesterday i have found one option that have made my rendering time shorter about 6 times.
So maybe You know some other secret options , not hidden gems , that could help other to work with AEF

so my secret for those who don’t know it is :
while pressing “Shift” go to Edit->Preferences->General-> click the list menu and you should
get “Secret” ( it’s named like htat ;] ) and there you will have a great option
    ( i’m wandering why it’s hiden !! ) , purge every … ( 5 – 10 is ok ) frames while rendering.

    Cheers. 🙂

Google “after effects” and “hidden gems”.

It’s secret because if used improperly could bring about the downfall of all humanity!!!!!

OK, it could mess you up though if you use it incorrectly. It actually increases render times in many cases, and unless you find you need it, it may not be something you want to use.

Plus it makes us AE veterans feel cool when we can tell someone new about it, and look like we actually know what we’re talking about…

It flushes the memory in AE which helps me when i am using heavy projects that also contain a lot of AE Text. When memory runs out, the text starts coming in as random letters. i tell AE to flush the cache every 15 frames. Also, sometimes AE runs out of memory during a render and crashes. This will keep that from happening.

The down side is that any effects that need to calculate based on previous frames, has to recalculate every time the memory is flushed, which can really slow things down.

just setting the ram use to something like 90% and RAM cache to 60% prevents AE from caching into VM when rendering and during RAM previews. I don’t know why they are set so high by default… or maybe i’m missing something.

The Cow should remember that you set your messages to ‘entire thread’ after selecting it only once. Unless you untag them or maybe have your cookies off.

I know. I know… At home on my PC, it works.

Here, at a MAc Based Studio, it doesn’t keep – no matter what I do. Security settings might be too high. And I forget that a lot.

    Sorry.

like I said. it may just be security settings on these Macs. Even if i tell one post to use response notification, the next post I open has been set back to None.
