    Hi

    From what I have learned so far, I believe the answer is to use the Zoom property to give the illusion of depth.

    The emitter “zoom” property does not affect particles that are already created. What is really needed is some sort of layer “zoom”, but that feature is not present.

    If you really need to do this, then render it in pIllusion and map it to a plane in your 3D app or compositing app.

    Another way to make it look more 3D (though not what you are looking for) is to use 2 particle types to create fake shadowing, as in this tutorial:
