    Hello friends,

I have about 4.75 hours of content to edit, which will be put on three DVDs.

My problem is, I’m not sure yet where the footage will be split yet for the DVDs (we won’t know until we see the timestamps on each section, because each will need its own intro / conclusion filmed, and those will depend on what fits on each disc, etc).

Anyway, is it okay for me to end up with this 4.75 hours all on one sequence? It’s a two-cam set, so it’s about 400GB worth of footage, multi-media, etc.

I’m assuming I’ll just be able to copy-and-paste the other two thirds into their own sequences when I’m finished with the whole thing.

Does anyone see a reason why I shouldn’t do this?

    Thank you!

    Pat

You can have to up to a 24 hour sequence in Premiere. 4.75 hours should be ok. I’ve seen some bottle necks with 8+ hours sequences that contain lots of cuts, effects and layers. The problem is the project file can get quite large. But from what you have laid out you should be fine.

I haven’t done a lot of work with long reels so others with more experience may want to chime in.

I did a movie online that had over 3 TB of footage in CS6. The project usually loaded up for a while but after that it was pretty smooth.

#&@^$!!! That is incredible! Was it a 4k movie? is there any clips of it anywhere? I need some editing inspiration this morning… I’ve got the “just crossed the 50% mark” blues.

It was only full HD but there was a lot of different kind of footage. Here’s a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVwkQrn-8JA
