  • How long is my audio?

I think I’ve got my project nearly finished. I mixed the audio in digital performer. I have 5 sec. of silence at the head, and in vegas, I have 5 sec. of solid color (black). I then also have all the raw audio in vegas still present make sure it matches the video.

I import in the mixed audio, and match it with the raw audio — and it’s exactly 5 sec. short!

So I went back into DP, started the audio 5 sec. later, and again imported the track into vegas. Again — it’s 5 sec. short!

Then I saw that I could stretch the audio so it was 5, 10 or whatever longer at the head, so it seems I have no way of knowing exactly how long the audio actually is once in vegas. So I’m confused.

Is there some way to tell if I have the audio mix track matching with the raw audio and picture tracks if used as is?

Check the sampling rate in your “raw” video, and compare it to the sampling rate in your mixed video. I think you’ll find that the rates are different.
