How is this done?
I’ve been trying to emulate the “Pepsi One Kaleidoscope” commercial.
It looks like they created seperate animations of a pepsi can, which then were multiplied, scaled etc. in AE or similiar.
I am especially interested in the middle part (about 6 sec into the clip) where the screen is
filled with hundreds of cans moving randomly up and down in rows. I think 3D Assistant would be a good tool to create the array of cans but what about the moving rows which also seems to be slightly offset.https://www.brandnewschool.com/movie.php?aID=324&aMovie=PEPSI1_Kaleidoscope.mov
Any ideas, hints, scripts etc?

Looks a lot like the Card Dance effect. It’s built into AE.

I wonder if it’s particles. It looks a bit like it. I noticed though there seems to be 2 patterns. One is a DNA helix slowly rotating and the other is cans going just up and down.
It’s also possible it was sprites instanced to points on geometry that was rotating.
