  • How is the extrenal preview picture scaled?

    Hi,

I’m trying to get a working solution for stereoscopic editing with Premiere. So far it seems promising, I’m able to a get stereoscopic preview on my second monitor (Zalman’s interlaced 3d screen) by using image matte of even and odd lines.

But whenever I change Premiere to output the preview to fullscreen (using the external screen option) to the Zalman, it won’t work. Looks like Premiere always does some kind of scaling on the screen (1920×1080 source material to 1680×1050 screen). Is there any way to turn the scaling off? Probably not…

Or does anyone know how one should create the interlacing-mask to counteract the scaling?

I suspect this is a problem with scaling the material after it’s interlaced…

I figured out how to make the mask work the different zoom factors on the preview panel. If I want to use 50% zoom on the preview panel, I’ll make a half resolution mask by painting two rows white and two rows black, etc…

Could I make it work by calculating how much Premiere scales the picture and scale my interlacing-mask accordingly?

The scaling would probably be done by the graphics driver, not Premiere

I turned off downscaling in Nvidia drivers. However there is no option to turn off upscaling. Damn, I guess I’ll have to contact Nvidia, but I suspect there is no way to disable downscaling 🙁
