Hi, I’ve posted something a bit like this, but just want to check, been using after effects on a pac,and want to shift to mac, I’m not that great with the programmes, and don’t use much ont he animation, I basically use it most for compositing using masks, cuting people out of footage and making them look like they are all in the same space. Tracking their motion etc.. am I able to do this on motion

If you’re really looking for a dedicated compositor & rotoscoping app, you’d be better off with Shake. Motion is geared much more towards motion graphics. It does have compositing features, but not as powerful as what Shake has.

Some other options for you: Combustion, Nuke and Fusion.

I hear that shake is really complex, and you need to be able to do scripting.. I’ve had a look at the shake forum, and it seem a bit unitelliagable…

    Heya,

Motion has great masking tools and version 3 now has motion-tracking.
