How goid is 4K video on 5K Mark 4
Posted by Carlo Ferraro on August 28, 2016 at 12:27 amJust a simple question, obviously is not RAW, not ApplePRoRes 444 but at least is 4:2:2 motion jpeg.
Any personal experience?Carlo Ferraro replied 9 years, 8 months ago 3 Members · 6 Replies -

August 28, 2016 at 2:55 amQuality of compressed image, need to upgrade to 4K to produce wildlife footage, can’t spend more money, can use same lens I got, I am not going to do commercials or films or video clips. I understanf it is intrafrane motion jpeg but there is still not much info about compression and rate.. Thanks

August 28, 2016 at 5:49 pmIt’s quite good. There is a lens crop factor of 1.75x. The images are sharp and crisp. It’s just more difficult to get a wide angle with the crop factor. The video is also 17×9 full 4K DCI.

Are you being specifically asked to produce 4K wildlife footage by a paying client? Are you losing paid work because you cannot shoot 4K wildlife footage?

August 29, 2016 at 1:08 amGary……spot on, now everyone ask for 4k, HD is no good anymore, as it happened with DVCAM, Betacan, etc, etc back. Switch or die. Basically now I produce wildlife footage for distribution, trying to fill a niche from Australia. Have to switch or retire, not ready for that even at 72…….
