  • How easy to repair breakout box?

    Hi all,

One of the unbalanced audio RCA plugs (phono) on our breakout box has broken away and doesn’t work. I’m tempted to open the breakout box to see if i can solder it back into place, but I don’t want to do any more damage… Has anyone opened up a breakout box and fixed a loose connector with success? I have this vision of me lifting the back off and all these springs and clips bursting everywhere…

I did open my box because of a bad connnection, could not find anything wrong, just to find out that it was the plug of the extern cable which was at fault. But opening the box and checking the connections is no problem (if it is not under warranty anymore)

    Hi Chris,

I’ve opened and repaired a couple of BOBs for this issue and you’d be suprised at just how low tech they are inside. Simply unscrew, carefully peel back the copper shielding and just solder the appropriate wire back into place.
