How does Premiere auto-save function work?
Hi,
I’ve recently started working in the Adobe suite after moving from Final Cut and I’m having an issue with auto-save. It’s possible that I just don’t understand it.
I think I’ve figured that Premiere puts autosaves wherever the project file is located. Unlike in FCP there’s no way of designating a specific folder for auto saves is that correct?
I went with default settings for the autosave of every 20 minutes with a total of 5 saves. Premiere does indeed say that its been saving every 20 minutes. However, after a force quit I went to recover the auto saves and the available 5 are all old project saves from 2 or more hours ago.
My question is this: Does Premiere over write old auto saves with newer ones or does it stop auto saving once it reaches a total of 5?
I assume that it’s supposed to overwrite the oldest autosave. If that’s the case why is my newest save from 2 hours ago? Does anyone know of a malfunction or setting that would cause this?
Here is another post about the same question unanswered:
