I’ve created a couple of short 1920×1080, 29.97pfs, QT movies in AE 8.
When I open them in QuickTime Player it confirms the frame rate is 29.97.
However, when I import them into FCP 6, it says the frame rate is 23.98. (and FCP wants to change my 29.97 sequence to 23.98 to match).
How can I get FCP to import these movies at the correct frame rate?

    Intel Octobox 9GB RAM
    OS 10.4.10
    FCS 2
    QT 7.2
    AE 8

What is the video compressor that you are using? Animation, ProRes422, etc.?

Can you by any chance override the frame rate in the FCP Browser?

And you definitely did set up a 29.97 comp in AE, correct?

It is odd that QT player sees it correctly, but not FCP.

Open the problem clip in Cinema Tools. Then conform the clip to 29.97fps.
The conform is pretty instantaneous. It doesn’t actually do anything, as the clip is actually 29.97fps…it just repairs the incorrect frame rate flag that is tripping up Final Cut Pro.

This has worked for me on several occasions.

Cinema Tools thinks the frame rate is 29.97, but I told it to conform to 29.97 anyway and reimported into FCP and voila! that worked!
    Thanks John Pale!
Does that make it a QT issue?

[Countdown] “Does that make it a QT issue? “

I think its an intermittent quicktime bug with AE. I have seen it crop up a few times.
Cinema Tools seems to be the only way to fix it.
