How do you turn an Illustrator layer in after Effects to 3D?
Hi from medieval York UK.
This link illustrates my problem:

But here goes…I have uploaded an Illustrator file into after effects. One of the layers is a letter M. But of course it is flat. I want to thicken it, if that makes any sense. Yes i an turn it into a 3D object and play around with x and Y planes but i just cant thicken it.
I followed a tutorial and learnt you can thicken a flat layer with “Extrusion”. But i wonder is this something you cant do with an illustrator file? Is extrusion only for text layers and shapes?
So i guess my question is how can I make this letter M thicken or “extrude” when the option just isnt there 🙁
Any insight welcome 🙂
David
