  • how do you render?

Ok, this is a really basic question. I have used final cut for years and I am just transitioning to premiere.

How do you render effects? I have a clip that has been color corrected and I want to play it back smoothly.

When I select “render work area,” and then cancel, it doesn’t appear that anything has been rendered. In final cut when you cancel, you at least get to see what has been rendered so far. Do you need to wait for the whole thing to finish before you can see it? My video is 1 hr long.

    Hi Chet,

When a clip has been rendered, red bar above turns green. Since it appears you have one very long clip, when you cancel the render, none of it shows as rendered since it was not allowed to complete.

What you can do is use the “Razor” tool and cut your long clip into smaller pieces. If you cut a 5 minute piece at the beginning and at least let that portion complete before hitting cancel (it is green), then it should stay rendered.

Whatever is under the work area bar gets rendered. Reduce the work area bar to render s smaller section.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

    Cheers
