  • How do you import footage from a DVD into AVID?

Posted by N1gooner on January 5, 2006 at 7:40 pm

I am using AVID Express Pro HD to re-edit a DVD so the clips can be viewed on a web site. Unfortunately I have no idea how to bring the video into AVID. I have already copied the files from the DVD to the desktop (the file extensions are VOB, BUP, IFO). Any ideas how I should proceed? Any advice would be most appreciated.

I usually just hook a cheap dvd player up to the input on my firewire deck. Then play the dvd and record on the system just as I would a tape.

    Hi there,

I went to an Avid Liquid demo the other day and the demo artist said that Avid Liquid is able to import the VOB file directly. He did it and lo and behold it worked.

But, I have Express Pro HD also and I just hook up a DVD player to the video and audio in on my Sony DSR-11 deck and digitize by bypassing the deck.
