  • How do you get a serial number from an SD Card?

Posted by Chris Dukes on May 6, 2019 at 4:41 pm

    Hi,

I am trying to make an inventory of SD cards and I want to include the serial number. It seems like you can only do this on a PC and even then Linux is involved. Any ideas about how to do this on a Mac? The card reader in my iMac Pro is connected to the PCI bus, not a USB bus.

Most solutions I find online seem to reference this article:

    Thanks,
    Chris

Just buy a labelmaker and label them: 001, 002, 003…

I don’t think a serial will help you even in the event of theft–the cops would laugh at you if you tried to get them to recover an SD card! Just record your label number, brand name, and card size.

can’t you label them as digitized as well? in format label = [ ] is the actual name of the virtual drive.
and in windows, you can right click, hardware details in windows to pull the strong name properties which i believe is the CID. so should be a similar method in a mac.
