  • How do you delete 99% of audio from timeline?

Posted by Glenn Payne on May 23, 2018 at 11:43 pm

I’m looking for a way to delete all of the audio from my timeline except the 2 pop audio at the beginning and end of the project (keeping video).

I thought I could select all, detach audio, then highlight and delete the 99% I’d like gone but it doesn’t seem that I can detach audio if more than one clip is selected. You guys know of any workaround?

    Thanks so much!

What is the ultimate goal? Why do you need to delete it?

You could turn it all off in the inspector (clips would have to have similar audio configurations for that, or select similar configured audio in the index and then turn them off in the inspector).

Or you could select all, and then the level down all the way.

I’m sending an xml to my colorist for the film. He doesn’t need any audio othe than the sound of the 2 pop markers at the beginning and end to sync with. I’m assuming losing that audio will help with processIng speeds.

Unless you make new media without audio, your original files will still have audio. Deleting it out of the timeline won’t delete it out of the files.
