How do you copy entire metadata columns and paste to another column?
How do you copy clip names in name column and paste to another column (‘description’ for example)? I want to rename all clips in a premier project, but I really dislike that there’s no column that actually shows the file path and that you have to rely on Premiere’s under-the-hood links to the original material. So, I want to do what I’ve done in Avid- copy the names of all clips and paste into another column. I can’t figure out how to do this quickly. Instead, I have to do it one at a time. Anyone know how to do this all in one go?

project panel menu > metadata display >
search path
enable it
move column to a more convenient view position…
now you can rename the main filed without worrying about not remembering the original file name…does that help?
so the copying may not be necessary.

I see “Media File Path”. It’s not quite as rock solid as having the original file name, as a path can change (and sometimes accidentally the original file name can be lost), but this is definitely good to know about.
