how do you convert 4:3 footage to fit a 16:9 project in premiere pro 2
I have a 16:9 project running in premiere pro 2. I also have two types of footage for it; vx2000 footage with anamorphic lens to give a 16:9image….and vx2000 footage without anamorphic lens giving a 4:3 image (I took the anamorphic off for sharper close-ups)and now I want to expand the 4:3 to fit the entire 16:9 frame in the best way and without black bars of any kind…..anybody familiar with this procedure out there?? thanks and best from Epstien

Scale but you may not like the results, because the sharper close ups will be gone and you will end up with unsharp images.

Like Harm says you will lose resolution if you try to scale the image to fit, you should have left the anamorphic adapter on the cam, the minor loss of horiz. sharpness is negligible compared to scalling the video, one way to solve your problem is to use the 4:3 footage and composite background material into where the pillar bars are on the 16:9 screen

There are a couple of software programs designed to turn SD into HD sized frames. If you were to use that software and then scale down to fit into the 16:9 project, it might mitigate some of the loss.

Problem is unless you shot the 4:3 for later conversion, the widescreen result ends up cropping the vertical as its essentially a zoom to fit the horiz.

My film is ready, but altough all clips are widescreen (16:9)with similar pixel ration I have some full screen, some with black sides and some are smaller then full screen. Interprete footage does not bring anything. What can be the cause and how can I bring them all to e.g. full screen?
