How do they do it? (Transparent Tick in the LateRooms Ad, video attached)
OK, so I’m in the middle of recreating some effects pulled in the LateRooms advert, with the people having text stuck beside their heads and scrolling. I’ve exactly recreated the font and the checkboxes, but I’m having a little trouble getting the tick to ‘tick’, due to the transparency. So how is this done?

As in when the tick mark comes into view (in the check box). I thought about using a ‘stroke’ effect and some masks to get it to appear, but it was fiddly getting the tick to be transparent at the same time. -
Create your check and then apply a “Write On” Filter. Move the position to where the check mark animation would start. Then move your play head down say 10 frames and then move the position to where the check mark bends. Then move the play head down 20 frames and move the position to the end of the check mark. Increase the brush size so it covers up your check mark. Then change Paint Style to “Reveal Original Image.” Then it will look like someone is drawing your check mark on. Thank you very much for that. I was not aware that the Write-On filter had the same ‘Reveal Original Image’ property like the Stroke generator.
I’ve taken that aboard now- and have come up with a solution to my troubles! What do you think of this layout?

3.Since with Reveal Original Image, it only shows the tick mark- I had to add a copy of the video in layer 3 to compensate for the missing parts of the video.
I’ve tried it out, and it seems to work perfectly! Just wondering if it was a bit messy?Regards,

The Write on will not effect the video below just the layer it is applied to. If your check box and text is in one comp go into that comp and apply the Write on the the layer that the check box is on.
