how do i acheive this effect where an animation is transposed on a perticular part of a video clip? in this video, an animation is on a wall and a person is walking infront of it. is the wall a seperate element brought in? is the person keyed out from another clip? is he roto’d out? or is there a way to place the animation on to that clip/wall?

    thanks in advance,
    James

You can place the animation on the wall by placing the animation layer over the footage layer then distorting using the corner pin effect. However, when the talent walks in front of it, the animation will appear to cover him, since its layer is over the footage layer.

He needs to be on a separate layer, either shot separately with a travelling greenscreen pushed behind him (or covering the area where the animation is expected to be) or the animation needs to be roto’ed out as you suggested. If he only passes the animation over a few frames, it might not be so hard.
