What would be the best way to transform a project from 3:2 to 4:3 (using black bars) so as to not cut off on the sides.

I’ve already tried setting the sequence to 4:3 sq., which automatically places bars instead of cuting off the sides, but the render (MPEG 2) comes out badly pixelated (I already did an MPEG render of the same material in its original 3:2 and looks ok).

I’m thinking of using After Effects to solve the problem but wanted to know if there is a good way to do it with final cut beforehand.
