  • How do I reset Track Motion?

Posted by Norman Willis on December 31, 2009 at 10:35 pm

I filmed a person working on something from over both shoulders. I needed an angled split-screen, so I downloaded NewBlueFX’s Video Essentials III package, for the Split Screen. I lined up both video tracks, applied the effect to video track 1, and it looked pretty good; but then I needed to move the tracks around.

I opened up Track Motion on the second video track, and I’m not sure what I did wrong, but now the video track has an X offset.

The Track Motion screen is also offset, and I cannot seem to get it to reset back to zero.

In trying to troubleshoot, I also messed with the Split Screen View, and am not sure if I may have messed that up also, or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Or is there some way to reset Track Motion?

    Thanks very much.

Right-click on the Track Motion window and select Restore Box from the context menu.

It moved the boxes in track motion.

However, there was not much change (if any) to the preview screen.

I tried all the ‘Restore’ options. Nothing.

    Ideas?

You may have keyframes and you are just making more without affecting the existing ones. Make sure that you delete any keyframes and make the change on the first keyframe.

In case you never noticed you can see your track motion keyframes just below the track presented as little diamonds. You can move, delete, change the preset as needed without having to open up the track motion window again. Move your cursor to where the problem is and look for the offending key frames and delete them. Hope this and JR’s post help you

No keyframes. I right-clicked the first (and only) keyframe each of Position, 2D Shadow and 2D Glow, just to be sure; but Delete option is greyed-out.

Don’t forget to click on position in track motion. What I would do is “rewind” to the beginning of the timeline. Select the track in question, open track motion. right click and restore. If that does not work for some odd reason or another. Create and empty track copy the prior and paste it to the empty.

Don’t forget to click on position in track motion and check for a key frame there. Turn off your sync cursor and start over again,

If that does not work for you I would do is “rewind” to the beginning of the timeline. Select the track in question, open track motion. right click and restore. If that does not work for some odd reason or another. Create and empty track copy the prior and paste it to the empty.

You can never delete the first keyframe; it’s always there. You just want to reset it. I noticed in your last screen shot that you have 3D Shadow highlighted. That will only reset the shadow. You want to click on the Position bar above 3D Shadow and 3D Glow to reset the position.

OK, now I got it. I think I was playing around with 3D Shadow and Glow, trying to figure out what they do. So when I was trying to reset the keyframes, I was trying to reset Shadow and Glow, and could not figure out why Position would not reset. lol

    Dohhh!!!!!
