how do I render in HD
I’m using sony vegas pro 8.0
I start with mts files that I filmed in HD with my camcorder, I want to put them on youtube so after editing I render as WMV or MPEG4 in 1080p, but when the video is finished it is not HD quality it is not even close,

is there a step that I’m missing to ensure that the video remains HD?

No disrespect but it’s hard to see if it’s HD or not with the way the camera was jerked around so much. If you put the camera on a tripod and set its capture mode to auto , I bet it would look way better. Vegas Pro 8 I think is before the Internet presets were added so try the Render as 8 mbts .wmv 1080 30P preset and upload that. Youtube always re-encodes all videos before you can view it. So the best way is to upload the best quality video that still fits You Tubes upload limits.

thanks for the advice, I didn’t know much about filming so I didn’t consider the fact that I wasn’t holding the camera steady, that was the problem, I looked at some of my other footage where I was standing still and it was way better.
