  • How do I render cinema 4d fur with redshift?

Posted by Daniel Ginzburg on February 1, 2023 at 1:31 am

    Hello,

I know rendering c4d hair object with redshift is very easy and straightforward. When using the fur it’s not showing up in redshift render view. Redshift tag doesn’t even have the curve tab available for fur. I couldn’t find anything about this topic anywhere, every tutorial out there is how to render hair not fur. The reason I’m using fur and not hair is the option to use vertex maps to grow the fur.

    I appreciate any help. thanks!

    Hello Daniel Ginzburg

Try to apply redshift material to the c4d fur,

Then It will be visible in the redshift renderer

Will be expecting a feedback from you

    Thanks

    Hi Boston Cainfra,

Thanks for the response but just adding material to the fur object doesn’t work.

Is there anything else I can try?

    Thanks

    Hi Daniel,

As you stated, it seems that there isn’t clear informations about rendering Fur in Redshift, but you may be able to achieve something using Principle hair shader because it works with Fur and it is often used for rendering hair on Redshift because his various options. Another thing is that you may be able to bake Vertex growing and then you can Bypass the rendering issue with Fur.

I hope this is useful to you

    Update:

This is Maxon’s answer to a user’s question about this matter.

“Hi, The C4D plugin SDK does not provide the means to extract the fur data, so currently it’s not possible to support.”

It has been confirmed that this is not supported yet, so you may have to use hair instead.
