    Hi

I have a little work flow problem i’m hoping somebody might be able to solve for me.

If i create a rough cut in FCP, is it then possible to reconnect the media on another FCP system which has already digitised my rushes?

Essentially, i’m working with 2 FCP systems. In the office, they will digitise my entire tapes into large, single files.

At home, i want to create a rough cut on my FCP system. I understand that if i simply copy the FCP project file to a usb stick and then open the file on my work system my project will be there but the media will not be connected.

Here’s the question…is it possible to then automatically reconnect the media to my project file from footage that has already been digitised? So if i have clip one on the time line and i want to reconnect the media, is it possible to set it up so it automatically finds the in / out points from the large file and lays it on the timeline? Effectively, it would be like doing a batch capture but from footage that has already been digitised (captured) to the hard drive.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if there is a good work around?

    Any advice much appreciated..

    Hi,
all you need to do is to reconnect the master-clips, then the subclips follow automatically…
When you open the project, a window appears telling you that media-files are offline. Select “reconnect”. Another window opens up listing all the offline files. Select “search” if the file- and reelnames are identical on both computers. Otherwise you need to connect your media manually with the “locate” function. (but again, you only need to do the masterclips, so it should not be too time-consuming)
