I’m trying to create a bump map filter for FCPX using the Bump Map filter in Motion. I can not figure out how to publish the Map Image Well so that I can add a gray scale for displacement? Am I just not seeing the obvious answer? Can it be done? Thanks

No, the image well isn’t publishable. But I would have thought that it would work by simply adding a drop zone (which automatically publishes itself) and feeding that into the image well:

… but, for me, that results in rather strange behavior in FCP, even though it works as expected in Motion. In FCP the bump map shifts all the way to the top right corner. Bug? Wrong thinking?

Maybe try asking here, too https://www.facebook.com/groups/apple.motion/ … maybe someone else there has a better idea/alternative.

I’ll check out the FB group and keep watching here in case someone has a work around. Yes I tried the dropzone idea too. It’s extremely frustrating, relatively speaking.
