How do i prevent AE from appending copied comp name?
I need to make a copy of a number of comps in a >100 sub comp project. When i copy them and paste outside of its respective folder it changes the comp name with the next number. This has become a huge timesink trying to reverse its changes, if i paste into a different folder it has no reason to do this, is there any way to stop it from renaming copied comps?

I don’t know of a way of preventing the behavior that you’re referring to, but this script can help with the efficient renaming after the fact:

Place all the comps that require duplication into a folder. Select the folder and Edit>Duplicate. The folder name will have a suffix number added but the comp names will be left untouched.

Possibly, a quicker way would have been to import the same AEP into the current AEP.
