    Hello Everyone.

    Initially this seems very simple but I just can’t figure it out.

    All I need is a pyramid with nice smooth fillet edges all round. Just like a cube with filleted caps but a pyramid.

    Ways I’ve tried so far:
    1. Pyramid highly subdivided in a hypernurbs, with hypernurbs subdivisions set very high. Does the job but with a horrible triangulated edges.

    2. Pyramid made editable, then bevel all the edges and put inside a hypernurbs. Again…weird edges.

    3. Lofted square splines with rounded edges. Top looks horrible.

    I’m rendering with Vray and glossy materials – so all shapes need beatifully perfect round edges with no artifacts.

    Any ideas?

    Start with a plane an extrude up and weld the points at the top. Then you can drop it under a hypernurbs. Then adjust it with weighting and inner extrudes.

    Thanks for the reply Randy.

    Wouldn’t that just create me the same a primitive pyramid I’ve already tried?

    The problem is primitive pyramids subdivide into triangles and don’t smooth very well in a hypernurbs.

    Any ideas?

    Cube – fillet it – make it editable – rotate the cube in H 45° – select the top poly – grow selection until the top edge fillets around the cube are also selected – delete – select one of the corner fillets and the leftover ‘corner’ fillet bits on top of that – move the axis all the way down (Selected/World) – rotate into the center 45° (or -45° depending) – do that for all the corners – join the bits at the top. You get this. There could be a better way but that’s all I could think of.

    This is what i got. https://www.randyarchy.com/rounded.jpg not nearly as rounded as brians but the edges are not sharp. This one was a cube that i welded the points on with two inner extrudes.

    Great advice Brian and Randy, thanks also for jpeg and C4d file, very useful to see the end results.

    I’ve had a go myself on the mini tutorial you post and works a treat.

    Crazy that there isn’t an easier way.

    I tried the Pyramid, editable, Edges Mode and bevel, toss that in a HyperNurb and it’s close – done right it has nice smooth corners but because of the HNurb/cage interaction it’s not quite perfect as a pyramid you could play with weighting but that’s tricky to not get hard edges where you don’t want them so I went with the cube.
