  • How do I make the Text Media Edit box bigger?

Posted by Tor Wong on April 4, 2008 at 2:48 pm

Hi, so when I make a new Text Media event and look in the Video Media Generators window in the Edit tab, it shows a small text window-in-a-window that takes up but a small part of the whole window. No matter how big I resize it, the area where it says “Sample Text” stays small and isn’t fully viewable.

(This is difficult because it makes me scroll around a lot more with subtitles than I would have to if the text field was bigger.)

Is there a solution/workaround to this? I’m in Vegas 8 and these are for simple titles, so I don’t need the Pro titler.

    Gratitude in advance.

Hi again, anyone know a way to do this? Very strange if it’s not possible, seems to be a significant UI omission.

I don’t think that you can change the size of this text box under the EDIT tab (although I haven’t tried to change the monitor resolution). But a simple workaround could be that you create your text in a smaller font and only after finishing your text, select all the text (Ctrl A) and change the font to the size you would like to use in your project.

Thanks for the reply, Theo! Alas, that’s not a practical workaround for me, because I work with many subtitles, and to do that on each one is inconvenient — I need to see how the full-size text will fit on the preview monitor.

Then you will have to use the scrollbar…
Maybe Sony can change this in Vegas 9?

I hope this can be improved, yes — it’s a UI limitation which doesn’t make sense, since the overall window can be expanded.
