How do I make a transition like Texas Chainsaw Massacre

at about 1:19 or so, they transition between scenes with that eerie photography type shot with high pitch noise.
How can I do that transition with AE? It looks like a burned piece of film that blossoms out from the center with a white glow that encompasses the whole screen.
I would rather do it in my NLE, but will try AE if I can’t in Vegas.Any thought would be appreciated.

November 6, 2007 at 9:53 amI used a white solid with Glow applied, I then setup the glow using orange and a light yellow A and B colors. I drew an irregular shaped mask on the solid and feathered it a bit. I animated the Mask Expansion value over time and this seamed to produce a similar effect. Just an idea.

November 6, 2007 at 5:03 pmok, heres a simple way as well.
Go down to sears, go to the yard department. Pick up a 2 stroke 50 cc chainsaw. Next Run down town. Proceed to find some one with a video camera. Fallow their line of site, and begin to go on what we in the industry call a ‘killing spree’ it’s cntrl K on the pc and cmd K on the mac.
once sufficiently spreed out, go after the camera man to end the spree. This is essentially your work space. (you can control the time of your work space, using the ‘n’ and ‘b’ key) take the camera, eject the tape and capure this at home. Once you are finishing capturing in you NLE of choice, bring the footage into after effects and fallow the above guide. This will be what you are looking for.
Note, Adobe does not support the mass murder of towns people or travelers. Any killing or ‘sprees’ is done on the accord of the user, and while not violating the eula of adobe programs, may end up in lengthy court times. And while we do not recommend fallowing such things, we do recommend using a mask and gloves to prevent leaving behind evidence, as well as purchasing any hardware in cash as to not leave a paper trail. If you are caught promptly hand over any and all evidence and plead guilty as this will most likely help any chance of reduced sentencing, also pleading insanity may end up yielding no prison time rather time spent in a mental health facility.
ok but seriusly DaMasteRZ has it spot on, I just had too much coffee and am waiting for updates to download.
Please don’t kill people for the sake of any movie, tv show, add or any other visual medium

November 7, 2007 at 1:50 amanother way to do this is to use the effect called exposure. just keyframe it up and it should get the the same effect your looking for.

November 7, 2007 at 12:38 pmI saw that exposure, but the effect seems to work/burn from the center outwards in the TCSM video – I wonder if there is a way to do that with exposure?
