    Hey guys

Im a gfx designer in a TV Station. The producers cut their promos at 1:1 on a Unity drive. I currently export out at QT Animation 100%, import in AE with project settings of 16bit, then export back out to QT Animation 100%, and import into Avid at 3:1.

First off, the vision has been captured uncompressed, at 10 bit (i think). Is QT a 10 bit medium?
Secondly, Using AE at 16 bit, does this affect the imported files?
Thirdly, is this an acceptable work flow, and can it be enhanced (we cant use Automatic Duck because i dont have access to the unity drive)?

Will Microcosm help my quality if the above doesn’t?

    Thanks for any help

    Chris

That workflow sounds pretty standard, man. Do you HAVE to bring your final graphics into Avid at 3:1 though? If you are experiencing quality loss, that’s probably where it is happening.

Yes QT is 10-bit, but I think that is more based on codec…

Importing into AE @ 16-bit should be fine, as far as I know.

And I don’t know what microcosm is… Hope this helps.
