How do I get rid of the gray?
I’ve been having this issue with this video I’ve been trying to upload to youtube for about 2 weeks now.
I have added a little introduction at the start of my video, (which was a .wmv file originally) but when I render the video into a .avi file then convert it to .mp4 format to reduce the size so it complies with Youtube’s video size limit.
Now what happens only when I upload the video onto Youtube I get this:

The introduction has a sort of grayish overlay to it, but when I upload only the intro without the rest of the video, it looks fine:

I’ve tried changing the source of the introduction into an .avi file then rendered it but still no luck.
It will be appreciated if someone would be able to shed some light on this 🙁Note: I have tried rendering as .wmv, rendering to .wmv then converting to .mp4 and also rendering to .avi and converting to .mp4.

Did you render the second one from Vegas in a new project and it looked fine? Are you rendering to the same format both times? (or did you just upload the raw WMV file and it looked fine?)
Without seeing your project, it would be difficult to say what might be going on but try and render it all alone in a new project if you haven’t tried that already.
Are you using any DivX at all? Do you have any codec-packs installed?

Yeh, for the second video all I did was put only the intro onto the timeline and rendered it as an uncompressed .avi, then converted to .mp4 just like the original video.
The same render settings were used and the intro alone seems to work fine, although playing the rendered .mp4 on my computer it turns out fine. It only seems to be when I upload the whole video (The first video) onto Youtube, the problem occurs.I have tried uploading as .avi, .mp4 and .wmv with the same results. I’m sure I’m missing something.
I do have divx and also currently using the K-lite codec pack.

The K-lite codec pack has been known to cause all sorts of problems with Vegas. I’m not saying that’s your problem, but don’t rule it out.
Why are you rendering uncompressed AVI? Why don’t you just create the MP4 file from within Vegas using the Sony AVC render type? That might actually help the problem (less renders = less things to go wrong).

I was experimenting with different render settings in Sony Vegas, thinking the reduced quality on the intro could be caused but the video being rendered and compressed into .mp4 format.
But I never even saw the Sony AVC render type, thanks for pointing that out 🙂I’ll show the results of the video here once it finally uploaded onto Youtube.
