How do I get edited HDV back to tape?
I would like to edit HDV footage in Premiere 2.0 and archive the master back to my camera.
My camera is Sony V1U with 1080i footage. Premiere 2.0 was not capturing so I downloaded CineForm Aspect HD Trial. I am able to connect/capture AVI files! I can edit AVI files! I can even Export>Movie a CineForm HD AVI file. I CAN NOT Export>Movie to CineForm M2T (I get several error messages such as “change setting to Progressive Scan or Use Square Pixels) even with all of the changes I am not successful in getting an M2T file created (do I need to have an M2t file to export back to my camera?). In the end, I just want to get my project back to my camera, is this possible? Am I having this problem because I am using the Trial version of Aspect HD?

Import the Cineform HDV project into a Adobe HDV project when you are ready to export and just export it back to tape from there. No need to create a file, the program will do that. Be prepared for it to take a VERY long time. Plug your camera in, don’t expect the batteries to last.

Steven, when I execute the Export>Master to Tape command, I get a tab that says something like “Render and Record”. When I click it, my camera starts recording but it is a blue screen, I can not see any video getting to the camera. When I manually pause the camera and rewind to see if anything recorded, it is just blue screen.
When you say be prepared to wait a long time, is it because my computer is rendering a version that can be sent back to the camera and the blue screen and recording is normal within this process.

If your camera starts recording right away, there is something wrong. It should not record until the video is ready, and it takes a long time to get ready.
Try a 5 second clip. Figure out if it will work at all. If it never records video, that’s one thing. How do you have your camera set up in the capture settings? It captures OK?

It captures OK when I use Aspect HD plugin for Premiere and since I installed that Plugin, I dont see the previous Premiere HD options to capture (which I couldn’t get to work).

I am not asking about the project settings, I need to know your device control settings and if they match your camera.

Timecode Format: Auto Detect
Check Status: OnlineBut when I click the button that says “Go Online for Device Info” it takes me to an Adobe Third Party-Hardware Compatibility and the V1U is not on the list. The HC1, FX1 and Z1U are on the list, is this the problem, Adobe doesn’t support the V1U yet?

That looks OK, so did you try exporting a 5 second clip with no effects added back to tape?

I did try the Export>Master to Tape>Render and Record on a clip that I had just imported with no effects and it still initiates the recording on the camera but it keeps recording beyond the 5 second clip until I manually press the stop button on the camera.

Try it with a standard Adobe HDV project. If that does not work, then it is a Premiere Pro issue with your camera, not Cineform. If it does work, import the old project into a new Adobe HDV project.

I would like to have other project options but once I installed CineForm, my original Premiere settings have been removed. Any suggestions????
