how do I get audio in to audio out at the same time?
Being a long suffering PC user I am slowly moving over to MAC.
I just can’t seem to input audio from the Decklink card and hear it on the mac output.
That is, I connect the audio from the Decklink Spdif out to a optical converter box and then that into to the optical input and set the MAC’s sound control panel correctly. It shows the VU activity to confirm the audio is coming in but I just can’t hear it at the MAC’s analog output even though thats what the sound control panel is set to. I have a G5 powerPC and a new MAC Pro and its the same on both. Are MAC sound cards not duplex?
I can play sounds in itunes and FCP if set to line out playback and hear it fine so I know the output setting is correct for my setup. The problem with that setup in FCP is that the audio plays a few frames advanced but I know the Spdif audio is in sync. And before someone says so, yes I know I am and idiot (because its gotta be something so simple!)Baz

The Final Cut Pro A/V controls override the Sound Panel controls. If you are bringing in audio via a capture card like a Decklink, then you should also be monitoring audio via that card as well.
But if you really want to monitor the audio via the Mac, then you go into FCP’s Audio/Video Settings and switch that over to Internal Audio.
