    Couple ways of going about this:

    Put your image layer above your text layer, then Opt/Alt-click between the two layers to make a clipping group. Place both layers in a layer group to move them together while still be able to adjust them separately.

    If you really want to go the alpha route, Cmd/Ctrl-click on your text thumbnail to build a selection, then select your image layer and click on the layer mask button. Much less flexible that way, though, as any changes you make to the text will require you to re-do the layer mask.


    It is easier to destroy than to create.
