  • How do I fix TC on source media?

I’ve just started a new project, and am capturing DVCPRO-HD 720p24 footage via the Panasonic 1200A over FW. The first 2 tapes were captured on one FCP system and the rest were captured on another FCP system. Somehow the TC got screwy on tapes from system one. Everything was shot NON-DROP, but somehow was captured with drop-frame TC. Also, the In-point was supposed to be something like 01:00:05:15, but after capture, the media start TC ended up as 00:00:00:00. I think we’ve concluded that there was some discrepancy in the Device control preset between the 2 systems.

Now I could waste time and re-capture 2 tapes, but is there a way to restripe TC on the clip itself since the footage is intact?

    Thanks.

First, do the captured clips have correct TC on the system it was captured on?
If so, there is a version incompatibility. Print out the bins and use ‘set TC’ (or whatever it’s called) from the menu and manually enter the correct TC. (of course on the system where it does not work)
If the capture system is not displaying it, are you sure it was captured correct? (Personally i don’t think so…)
Open a clip in Qt Pro and see if there is a TC track. If there aint one, it’s for sure you have to kick some butt.

If you know the correct start TC, you can still manually add it. But are you sure there are no TC breaks?
If there are you won’t be able to re-digitize if needed. If you have captured in online quality, it does not really matter if your log lists are ‘somewhere’ near the new TC.
