  • How do I ensure sync?

I have a Kona 3 card running in an Octocore with Kona breakout box and the necessary small converters. I want to dub a 720p 59.94 Final Cut project to anamorphic Beta-SP. I understand how to set up the Kona Control Panel to do this. In fact, I’ve run a test and I’m getting audio and video as desired. However, there is a slightly imperceptible hum bar in the image.

What I’m not sure of is the black burst/sync. Before I went to high def in my small edit studio, everything was kept in sync with a black burst generator, running at 29.97 (I assume). Now I have an FCP sequence that is 59.95 going to a beta deck that is 29.97. How do I manage sync? Can I deliver my standard black burst signal to the Kona card and get a proper image? Otherwise, how do I handle this situation, where the source is 59.94 and the destination is 29.97?

Thanks very much for any guidance.

Since they are both base 30, you can use standard 29.97 and the Kona and the deck will accept and understand it. It’s 23.98 decks that have the tri-sync.
