I am trying to get the black a different color, like maybe white

they are the black bars due to my aspect ratio.. but how do I change the color on both side or maybe add and image in its place

I used the paint app to box in what im referencing to (RED BOXES)

Although your image does not display in your post, the answer is very simple. Just create another track beneath your video track. Then add whatever you want to that track–video, still image, solid color, gradient, etc. Whatever you put on that track will now be shown where once you had the black bars.

It looks like the black may be part of the video in which case placing something on a track below will not show through unless you first remove the black. If the shot is static as in your example, just open Pan/Crop on the timeline event and create a negative Mask over the black areas to make the track below that Wayne suggested, show through.

John. I think you’re right, having figured out how to view the image. It does appear that the black bars are part of the video, in which case, a mask would be necessary.
