  • How do I do that thing where the thing changes but the other thing doesn’t??

OK, I don’t even know what this is called, hence the ignorant subject line. I’m pretty sure I’ve done this thing where I double-click on a video clip in the time line, which opens it in the Viewer, and then I dragged inside the in/out points to change their position in the clip without changing the duration of the clip itself.

I’ve tried all the tools in the toolbar, but nothing is working. Little help?

    Thanks!

Ok I think the thing that you are describing is possibly the thing that
they call “The Slip Tool” thing.

If you look at your tool pallete thing its the 5th thing down that looks a liitle like a pair of glasses.

Click the clip in your timeline that you want to slip and then slide left or right.

The in and out points will change but the duration and position of the clip remains constant.

    Is that the thing ?

That’s totally the thing, Neil. Thanks! (The thing is, though, that I was trying to figure out how to move the In/Out points in the Viewer. Turns out, you have to position the Slip Tool over the In or the Out point marker. I was trying to drag in the area between them. Because I am stupid.)

In any case, all is well. Thanks for the reply, man!
